Hi, I’m Lucas Brooks
I’m a tech writer and gaming optimization expert based in Austin, Texas. Before I started writing about PC performance, I spent years in IT, diagnosing systems, building workstations, and figuring out why hardware behaves the way it does under pressure.
Gaming was always running in parallel. I’ve been building custom PCs since my early teens, and at some point those two worlds merged. I started documenting every optimization, every benchmark, every tweak that made a measurable difference, and Rigpod is where all of that ended up.
How I test and write
Everything on this site comes from hands-on testing. I don’t publish settings I haven’t run myself across multiple games and system configurations. When I say a tweak gained 12% FPS or dropped temps by 11°C, that’s a number I measured, not something I lifted from a forum.
My testing rig changes depending on what I’m covering. I’ve built and benchmarked systems from $500 budget builds to $2,500+ high-end rigs. I test on both NVIDIA and AMD hardware, across different Windows versions, and always verify results before writing them up.
If something didn’t work in my setup, I say so. If the cheaper option performs just as well, I’ll point you there instead. I’d rather give you an honest answer than a confident-sounding one that wastes your time.
